🔴 Nepal-Tibet floods live: Nearly 1,500 people missing in devastating landslides

BREAKING: Nearly 1,500 people now missing and at least 165 killed in Nepal-Tibet flash floods and landslides, up from an earlier count, officials say as the death toll continues to climb.

Nearly fifteen hundred people are now missing in the Nepal Tibet floods.

That count has climbed all night. At least 165 are confirmed dead after a glacier collapsed in the Himalayas and sent mud and water tearing through villages on both sides of the border. The US Geological Survey says the tremor people reported wasn't an earthquake at all. It was the sheer force of the glacial rock and ice coming down.

These pictures show what rescuers are working with. An elderly woman lifted out of the mud in the bucket of a loader. Whole buildings in Nuwakot district buried to the rooflines.

Among the missing are hundreds of foreigners, pilgrims at the border crossing, trekkers, at least 34 Australians their government can barely get information on. India has flown in two loads of aid and medicine. The Dalai Lama says he is praying for the dead.

More than 24 hours in, over 800 people in Nepal remain completely out of contact.
