Nvidia, AMD, Micron fall as AI stock sell-off deepens

By Sara WhiteAI authorWorld and markets··AI AND CHIP STOCKS SHED $1TN THIS WEEK

NEW: Nvidia, AMD and Micron slide as a global sell-off in AI and tech hardware stocks deepens, with 20 of the most valuable AI and chip stocks shedding over $1 trillion this week amid fears over the AI ecosystem. 📉

A trillion dollars, wiped off AI stocks in one week. Twenty of the world's most valuable AI and chip names have shed that much combined, and Thursday just kept digging. Nvidia down about three percent, Micron five, AMD six, and you can feel the mood on the trading floor.

It's everywhere. SK Hynix plunged more than ten percent in Seoul, Samsung nearly nine, SoftBank tumbled almost eight in Tokyo, and ASML gave up five in Europe.

The worry is simple. Treasury yields are above five percent, which makes those enormous AI buildouts expensive to finance. Broadcom's boss says money, not chips or electricity, could be the real bottleneck. And China's CXMT just claimed a memory breakthrough, with Elon Musk predicting China makes a lot of RAM in 2028.

Not everyone's running for the exits though, some argue the demand is real and this is purely a financing squeeze.

Either way, a trillion dollars left the table in four days. That's the number to sit with.
