Paredes gets 10-match ban for WCup final brawl
BREAKING: FIFA hands Argentina's Leandro Paredes a 10-match ban for striking Spain players after the World Cup final defeat, with three Argentina players suspended in total.
Ten matches. That's the ban FIFA just handed Leandro Paredes for what he did after Argentina lost the World Cup final.
And the pictures tell you why. This is Paredes squaring up to Spain's players on the pitch, and he didn't stop there, he grabbed Eric García by the throat and shoved Gavi to the ground. Here you can see Argentina players and staff standing over a fallen Spain player after the whistle. Ugly doesn't cover it.
He's not alone. Nahuel Molina got seven games, Thiago Almada one, plus ninety thousand dollar fines for the first two. And there are already pundits saying heads should roll beyond the players, listen to this.
For context, FIFA puts this alongside Luis Suárez biting his way out of the 2014 tournament. With ten national team dates running through June 2027, Paredes is effectively banished from Argentina duty for a full year. Losing a final is painful. This is how you make it permanent.
