Trump claims US has secured Greenland, Venezuela in ‘greatest real estate deal’
NEW: Trump claims the US has 'secured' Greenland and Venezuela in what he called the 'greatest real estate deal', despite no transfer of sovereignty from Denmark.
Donald Trump says America has secured Greenland and Venezuela.
He's calling it the greatest real estate deal, his words, and here's the small print, Denmark hasn't transferred sovereignty over Greenland to anyone. The island is still Danish. Copenhagen has said no to selling it every single time the idea has come up, and nothing in this claim changes that.
Venezuela is even stranger. That's a sovereign country of nearly thirty million people, not a listing. No government on earth has confirmed any deal, any terms, or any transfer. What we have is a president describing two countries the way you'd describe a hotel acquisition.
So keep the claim and the facts side by side. Trump says secured. Denmark says Greenland is Danish, Venezuela remains Venezuelan, and as of this morning not one border on the map has moved.
