Trump ordered to sit for deposition in BBC defamation lawsuit

JUST IN: Trump ordered to sit for a deposition in his $10bn BBC defamation lawsuit by December 11 or face possible dismissal of the case, a US judge rules.

A federal judge just ordered Donald Trump to answer questions under oath.

Magistrate Judge Enjolique Lett ruled that the president must sit for a deposition in his ten billion dollar defamation lawsuit against the BBC by December 11. If he doesn't, the case he brought could get thrown out. And remember, he's the one suing here, and you can see him here on the campaign trail this week.

He was supposed to do this on October 16 but cancelled, citing a matter of national importance. The BBC's lawyer says that matter was a campaign rally in Georgia. The suit itself is about a documentary that spliced his January 6 speech, and the BBC has already apologised, its director general and news chief both resigned over it. But the broadcaster denies defamation, and now its lawyers get Trump in a chair, under oath, on the record.

Suing someone means they get to question you. He has seven weeks to show up.
