UAE accuses Iran of attacks on two ADNOC vessels in Strait of Hormuz
BREAKING: UAE accuses Iran of attacking two ADNOC vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it 'piracy' and a threat to global energy security. No injuries reported.
Iran just attacked two more oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, the UAE says.
Both vessels belong to ADNOC, Abu Dhabi's national oil company, and they were hit Thursday evening while transiting the strait. No injuries, and ADNOC says the situation was brought under control. The UAE's Foreign Ministry called it a hostile Iranian attack, and went further, saying Iran using the strait as a tool of economic coercion amounts to piracy and a direct threat to global energy supply. Tehran hasn't responded.
This is the second attack in under a week. An ADNOC tanker was hit Saturday, and the UAE blamed the Revolutionary Guard for that one. Iran is enforcing a blockade on the strait and wants to charge ships for passage, while Washington runs its own blockade on Iranian shipping in return.
And the number that tells you where this is heading. Fifteen ADNOC vessels attacked in that strait since the war began in February.
