Watkins completes £51m move to Saudi side Al-Hilal
JUST IN: England striker Ollie Watkins completes a £51m move from Aston Villa to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal on a three-year deal.
Fifty one million pounds, and Ollie Watkins is a Saudi Pro League player.
Al Hilal have signed the England striker from Aston Villa on a three year deal. Watkins is thirty now, and here he is, Villa's record Premier League scorer with 91 goals across six seasons. He was there for the whole climb under Unai Emery, pictured here, the top six seasons, the Europa League, Villa's first European trophy in 44 years.
The exit got messy at the end. Watkins made himself unavailable for the opener against Brighton last week, then apologised, and today he wrote that he never imagined his time at Villa would end this way, but that he'd given everything for the club.
Al Hilal are hoovering up Premier League talent this window, and Villa just lost the face of their best era in decades. Ninety one goals walk out the door, and Emery starts September needing a striker.
