Trump pauses 50% scheduled tariffs on Canada for three days, announces 'deal' with Ottawa

BREAKING: Trump pauses 50% tariffs on certain Canadian imports for three days, saying the two countries have reached a 'DEAL,' hours before the duties were set to take effect.

Trump paused his 50 percent Canada tariffs with hours to spare.

The duties were set to hit at midnight, covering hockey sticks, wine, roughly 20 billion dollars of Canadian goods. Then late Tuesday he posted that Canada and the US have a deal, all caps, subject to the finalization of documents. That caveat is doing a lot of work.

This came right after his talks with Prime Minister Mark Carney, and the post threw in a bonus, the Keystone XL pipeline could be awoken from the grave, his words. Trump approved it in his first term, Biden killed it in 2021, and now it's apparently back on the table.

Here's the part I'd hold onto though. The pause is three days. Not three months, three days. Canadian small businesses were told a 50 percent tariff makes their products uneconomic to sell south of the border, and they now have until Friday to find out if a Truth Social post counts as a trade agreement.
