JUST IN: Republican Byron Donalds and Democrat David Jolly win their primaries to become nominees in Florida's race to replace Governor Ron DeSantis, CNN projects.

Florida's governor race is set, Byron Donalds versus David Jolly.

CNN projects both men won their primaries tonight, and the prize is Ron DeSantis's chair, since he's term limited and finally has to vacate it. Donalds is the Trump-endorsed congressman from Naples, the president backed him early and cleared the field the way he likes to. And here he is, the Republican nominee.

On the other side, David Jolly, and this one's got a twist. He used to be a Republican congressman himself, left the party in the Trump years, and now he's carrying the Democratic banner in a state Democrats haven't won at the top since the nineties.

So November in Florida is a Trump loyalist against a Republican who walked away from Trump. The last Democrat to win this governorship did it in 1994. Jolly's job is to end a thirty year drought in a state that's only gotten redder.
