Singapore GP Sprint: Russell crashes out from lead in rain LIVE!
BREAKING: George Russell crashes out from the lead in the rain during the Singapore Grand Prix Sprint.
George Russell just binned it from the lead of the Singapore Sprint. In the rain, at Marina Bay, with the whole thing in his hands.
This is the moment, the Mercedes sliding into the barriers on a soaked street circuit, and that's a race lead gone in about two seconds of aquaplaning. Singapore in the wet is brutal, walls everywhere, zero runoff, zero forgiveness, and Russell found that out the hard way while everyone behind him was just trying to keep the car pointing forwards.
For Russell it stings twice. Sprint points gone, and now his engineers are rebuilding a car on a weekend where qualifying is still to come. Leading a race in those conditions takes nerve. Losing it from the front takes something out of you.
The rain hasn't gone anywhere, and qualifying is next. Whatever happens tonight under the lights, Russell starts it with a repaired car and a point to prove.
