Sources: Liverpool agree $163M deal for Barcola
NEW: Liverpool have agreed a $163 million (€140M) deal to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, who will sign a five-year contract pending a medical, sources tell ESPN.
Liverpool just agreed a hundred and sixty three million dollar deal for Bradley Barcola. That's a hundred and forty million euros to PSG, and the France winger will sign for five years once he passes a medical, per ESPN's Julien Laurens.
He's 23, he was Liverpool's top target all summer, and here's the part I enjoy. PSG opened the bidding at a hundred and forty five million pounds. Liverpool are paying a hundred and twenty, with a hundred guaranteed. The breakthrough came overnight, which tells you Paris blinked, not Merseyside. Two years left on his contract will do that.
Only Alexander Isak cost Anfield more, and Isak was last summer. That's nearly three hundred million pounds on two forwards in twelve months, which raises the obvious question about who makes room. ESPN's Mark Ogden says he'd be surprised if Cody Gakpo leaves, and you can hear his case here.
So Liverpool get the man who just helped PSG win the Champions League, and they get him at a discount. Somewhere in Paris, an accountant is quietly furious.
