US pulls last aircraft carrier out of Pacific amid Iran war, opens space for China

JUST IN: US pulls its last aircraft carrier out of the Pacific amid the Iran war, opening space for China.

The Pacific has no American aircraft carrier in it right now. Not one.

The US has pulled its last flat top out of the region to feed the war with Iran, and you can see the kind of ship we're talking about here, a hundred thousand tonnes of American power steaming west instead of sitting off Asia.

For decades the whole point of the carrier fleet was that Washington could fight in the Middle East and still keep watch on the Pacific at the same time. Today it can't, and Beijing can read a map. China's navy is already the largest in the world by hull count, and the waters around Taiwan and the South China Sea just lost their biggest deterrent.

Every war has a cost you can count in ships and one you can't. The empty ocean between Hawaii and Taiwan is the second kind.
