Iran attacks US bases in Jordan after US strikes Larak Island

BREAKING: Iran's army says it attacked the UAE's Al Minhad Air Base with drones and struck US bases in Jordan, retaliating after US strikes on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

The war just widened to the Gulf. Iran's army says it hit Al Minhad Air Base in the United Arab Emirates with drones, and struck American bases in Jordan too.

This is Tehran's answer to the American strikes on Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz, the first US hits on Iranian soil in this six month war. You can see the base they're claiming here, Al Minhad, south of Dubai. It hosts foreign forces, including American personnel. That makes this the first time in this conflict Iran has openly attacked a target inside the UAE.

Read the map for a second. Jordan sits on Israel's border. The Emirates sit across the water from Iran. Hitting both in one night is a message that nowhere hosting American forces is off the table.

No word yet on casualties or damage, and the Pentagon hasn't given its own account. What we know tonight is stark enough. Iran is now striking US positions in two Arab countries at once.
